Treble back in action for DHL Stormers Super Rugby victory

Newlands, Cape Town – This past weekend was a double-victory for the DHL Stormers when they took on the Sunwolves in their Super Rugby encounter at DHL Newlands.  The DHL Stormers played with full force, showing great defence tactics and an outstanding performance overall. Springbok newcomer, Dillyn Leyds was ablaze with two tries and gave up his third opportunity to former Blitzbok, Cheslin Kolbe, letting him score his second consecutive Super Rugby hat-trick. The DHL Stormers also walked away with the Super Rugby Africa Conference 1 trophy.

Treble was amped to return to DHL Newlands and oversee the DHL activations. We were especially proud of the DHL Stormers’ grand entrance, ensuring that they arrived in style with their newly-branded DHL Bus. We had been working alongside DHL for a few days to rebrand the team’s wheels, representing WP Rugby’s new message of, “We Stand Together.”

Treble hosted the DHL Couch Experience winners, on behalf of DHL Africa, who were joined by SA Rugby Legend, Tonderai Chivhanga, courtesy of Brightrock, making this experience an even more memorable one. Our team of professionals were back on the field at halftime and successfully managed the DHL Halftime Run Challenge. Five lucky contestants got to charge across the field and back for a cash prize of R1,000, courtesy of DHL Africa.

We activated the exclusive PostNet Kids Signing Session with the after the match, where twenty lucky kids from Silverlea Primary School had the opportunity to meet and greet DHL Stormers players and get their t-shirts signed on the field. An exciting introduction to the world of rugby!

The DHL Newlands food and beverage solution was also taken care of in the usual seamless and successful fashion. The stadium bars and kiosks were bustling with thirsty and hungry fans and we and our vendors delivered generously. The 100’s Bar and exclusive Club Newlands Lounge were crowded with patrons, regular and new.

Treble was extremely excited to be amidst the Super Rugby action at DHL Newlands and we are proud of the DHL Stormers’ achievement. We now look ahead to the quarterfinal taking place at DHL Newlands on Saturday, July 22, 2017, where we will continue to provide world-class activation and food-and-beverage excellence.

Treble activates DHL Bag-Drop at Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon

Treble was appointed by DHL to facilitate the bag drop and collection points at the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon. We executed the activity successfully with the introduction of a simple and easy-to-follow process.

Runners received their bags within a minute of handing in their tags at the finish, and we are happy to announce that no bags were lost! The feedback from runners was amazing, with DHL being thanked by everyone for making the process so efficient and painless, unlike previous years.

As part of the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon, Treble organised the DHL Expo stand, which proved to be very popular. DHL cross-leveraged their DHL Stormers sponsorship by having players attend the Expo each day, giving away jerseys, flags, tickets, rugby balls and other prizes to the runners.

Treble is excited to have partnered with DHL to join this renowned event and we are proud of the undisputable success of the activation.

Treble continues to deliver world-class hospitality and entertainment at DHL Newlands

Newlands, Cape Town – Treble Group was present at DHL Newlands to provide hospitality and entertainment to the thousands of spectators who arrived to watch the DHL Stormers take on the Jaguares, on Saturday, March 4, 2017.

The DHL Stormers started a winning streak, with a 32-25 score against the Jaguares. Treble continued as the event managers of Castle Lawns, activating the ever-popular beer garden on behalf of Club Newlands, in partnership with South African Breweries. A large crowd of spectators filled the Lawns to sit back and relax before the game. The atmosphere was chilled but cheerful as garden-goers filled benches and spread out on the grass, Castle Lagers in hand!

Half-time entertainment was taken care of in-part, by our activation team, who manage the DHL Delivery Half-Time Run Challenge. The competition itself was another rocket-success, with winner Annemaree Meyer grabbing the R 1,000 prize!

At the end of the match, we activated the exclusive PostNet Kids Signing Session, where 20 lucky kids from Paarl got to meet and greet their favourite DHL Stormers players and get their t-shirts signed right in the centre of the hallowed DHL Newlands field.

The Treble team was extremely happy with the second home game at DHL Newlands and we cannot wait for the next home game, when the DHL Stormers take on the Toyota Cheetahs on Saturday, April 1, 2017.

Treble geared up to manage DHL Club Newlands Sleepover

Club Newlands – the official supporters club of the DHL Stormers and DHL WP – will be ushering in the 2017 rugby season with a hive of pre-season activities to lift the spirits of the whole family!  We start the year off with a bang in the form of the annual Club Newlands DHL Stormers Sleepover on Friday 3rd February 2017 at DHL Newlands Rugby Stadium.

Parents along with their kids are given the opportunity to pitch a tent on the sacred grounds of DHL Newlands Rugby Stadium a once in a lifetime experience which rugby fans young and old will remember for years to come.

Some of the DHL Stormers team will join the children and assist in a short coaching clinic, followed by a signing and photo session with the boys. Parent and child couples will also be privy to a talk around nutrition and fitness, a few exciting spot prizes on the day and a grand prize for the pair that shows the most physicality and enthusiasm during activities. The adults also have an opportunity to don DHL plane and delivery van suits and participate in the DHL run, much to the delight of their sprogs cheering them on from the side lines. This is then crowned with a braai and a hub of activities throughout the evening for the kids to enjoy before lights out.

‘The DHL Club Newlands Sleepover not only promotes camaraderie between parent and child, but also encourages children to develop and pursue fitness within the realm of local rugby in a fun, interactive space.’ – Selwyn Lewis, Director, Club Newlands.

Club Newlands aims to encourage bonding between parents and their children while participating in exercises which promote a healthy lifestyle with the aid of the Western Province Rugby Football Union (WPRFU) coaching and development department. We also believe that by investing in family oriented events, such as the Sleepover, Club Newlands actively conveys the message that rugby is a way of life for the whole family.

Treble successfully activates DHL fan park at Cape Town Sevens

Treble Group executed a highly successful activation of the DHL area at the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Tournament held in Cape Town on the 10th and 11th of December 2016. The activation campaign kicked off with a DHL Sevens Ticket Giveaway which involved remote controlled DHL branded racing cars which approaching unsuspecting members of the Cape Town public, surprising them with tickets to the Sevens Rugby Tournament  The area attracted myriads of fans through a variety of activities catering to both adults and children. Some of the innovative exercises included a bobbing heads lip sync challenge, remote controlled cars on a mini race track, the mechanical ball stand and the massage area.

The DHL activation area was brought to life using a branded inflatable castle and a branded cubicle which ensured that the DHL area was impossible to miss.

The bobbing heads lip sync challenge was one of the highlights of the activation due to its originative nature. The bobbing heads lip sync challenge required people to lip sync a song of their choice inside the cubicle. The faces of the participants would appear on a screen outside the cubicle where people on the DHL pavilion could watch the performance. This activity gave both the participants and viewers something to laugh about whilst still ensuring that the Treble achieved maximum presence for the DHL brand.

The massage area was another notably successful aspect of the activation, particularly for the adults. There was a constant flow of people on the DHL couches, enjoying a few minutes of downtime before they returned to the Cape Town Sevens action.

Not only was the DHL area one of the most prominent areas situated on the outer concourse, it was also highly prominent inside the stadium. The stands were filled with personalised DHL branded signs, DHL blow up sticks and DHL branded clappers. Treble’s tactical use of the promoters ensured that there was a constant DHL presence in both the inner and outer concourse of the stadium. The promoters could filter into the crowd and provide supporters with DHL gear before a game, ensuring once again, that DHL was the leading brand at Cape Town Stadium in terms of visibility.

‘The primary objective was to showcase as much visual content for DHL at the event as possible, which was achieved by using strongly branded simulators, mobile pop-up containers and inflatable domes.’ – Monrol Bailey –  Branding, Treble Group.

Epic 11 month journey through 45 countries concludes

A team of seven who embarked on an epic journey from Cape Town through Africa to London in October 2014 as part of DHL’s Africa as One campaign, have finally arrived at their final destination after traveling through 45 countries.

During an 11-month journey, the team crossed 102 border posts, travelled 70,854 kilometers, spent over 856 hours on the road, all while introducing the game of rugby and what it represents to 3,370 children in Africa. The ambitious DHL Africa as One journey formed part of the build-up to Rugby World Cup 2015 in England, and involved the team passing a single rugby ball from hand to hand across Africa.

This first-of-its-kind campaign saw the team face many challenges, including terrain, security, health and safety issues. DHL Africa As One Team leader, Louise Otter, says that Africa is not for the faint-hearted.

“However, the incredible experiences along the way, from the local music and great ruins of Zimbabwe, snorkeling in Lake Malawi, learning about coffee and the Black Pharaohs in Ethiopia and Sudan, to name a few, kept the team going, and provided much encouragement and enthusiasm.

“Moments spent with locals across the continent have also been a highlight. When visiting Guinea Bissau last month, we discovered that rugby is an entirely new concept to the locals, and that many had never seen a rugby ball before.”

In order to make a lasting impact in the various countries visited, the journey also included rugby fairs as well as various CSR activities including free eye tests for over 4,000 people through DHL’s partnership with Mercy Ships and the distribution of over half a million units of stationery to young children across Africa.

Every step of the journey, every person, every place and every pass was captured on film, in photographs and words, and shared with Africa and the rest of the world. According to Megan Collinicos, Head of Advertising & Public Relations for DHL Express Sub Saharan Africa, the tour was not only about rugby, but about showcasing Africa to the rest of the world in all her beauty. “We wanted to make a difference in each country, as well as capture Africa in her everyday routine, highs and lows in order to share this beautiful continent with the rest of the world.”

“We decided to leverage the partnership in Africa, where rugby is relatively unknown in a number of markets. With this campaign, we wanted to marry our experience, knowledge and capabilities across the African continent with the concept of this ambitious journey – one that requires careful co-ordination and intricate logistics as well as significant investment.”

Collinicos adds: “Our dream of sharing Africa’s beauty and culture with the rest of the world is now a reality. We have received a fantastic response to our campaign with over 26 million YouTube views on our Africa As One country episodes to date,” concludes Collinicos.

DHL concluded their journey with a three-day activation in London, raising money for the United Nations World Food Programme’s (WFP) Tackle Hunger campaign. All donations received will help WFP to provide nutritious school meals to children in Africa.

The long wait is over! Copa America is here!

The Copa America football competition is finally here! Thursday 11 June 2015, marks the beginning of one of the most prestigious sporting events in the World.

12 Countries (including Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Columbia, to name a few) will contest the 44th edition of the championship. Big names and future heroes in the football world will kick off the action tonight until 4 July 2015.

Treble will be on the ground in Chile, managing and activating the DHL sponsorship of Copa America.

The Treble team is honoured to be a part of such a massive and historic sporting event and we wish the participating countries and DHL Express all the best for the competition!

Africa As One: 26 countries visited, 19 to go!

In the build up to the 2015 Rugby World Cup, the Treble Group are helping DHL Express to pioneer a unique journey throughout Africa, driving 3 Land Rovers through 45 countries over 45 weeks. The aim of this project is to deliver rugby to Africa and Africa to the rugby world and uniting the fans as one.

In each country, the team has spread the love of the game through activations such as rugby clinics and rugby fun days with around 200 to 400 adults and children in attendance.

With 26 activations completed in 26 African countries, we’ve enabled hundreds of children to experience the game first hand and have fun whilst learning valuable life skills.

This week the ball leads the DHL Express team and Louise Otter, our Treble Group representative, to destination 26 – Togo. Togo is, as Louise describes, “a cute, calm, and HOT country!” It is a small country sandwiched between Benin and Ghana, made up of a long beach with beautiful palm trees (planted by DHL!), a colourful culture of people who love to be outdoors, large buildings dotted around the city and a somewhat peaceful environment with not much traffic.

We wish the team all the best as they then head for Benin. Good luck and continue to inspire and unite.

The team have kept us updated on their whereabouts via the DHL Africa Facebook page and have captured the cultures, traditions, magnificent landscapes and rugby activations through their amazing video diaries on their YouTube channel.

Follow this incredible and ambitious journey via their platforms and feel a part of the great African adventure!
